It is very important to have as many links as possible that point to your website, but it is also very important for the pages which provide these links to have a high page rank. Recently the links are indexed by IP (not by host+ page). Example: If until now we would have had 3 back link to us from three different pages of another website www.site.com/page1.html,  www.site.com/page2.html, and www.site.com/page3.html all the links would have been considered by Google. Now all the web pages are seen trough the IP criteria and therefore all the pages from a website have the same IP so even if we have three links they will be considered as one. Also another important criteria for Google is the geographical region  from which the "recommendations" (back-links) come from; this is why it is best to have a global distribution of back-links and this can be obtained by participating in our link rotation & Google-bot detection programs.
